Fix Your Slow Laptop/notebook or pc

To fix your slow laptop problem you first need to identify exactly what is slow.
  • You need to know has it always been slow or you consider it slow the day you bought it. If so, maybe you just purchased a computer that was undersized for your needs. It may be as simple as you just need a laptop with a faster processor speed or more memory.
  • If the applications you use have a lot of graphics then you may need to upgrade the graphics card and possibly add additional memory. I would suggest that you look closely at the system requirements defined by the applications that you are using.
  • If your laptop speed is only slow when you are accessing the internet then this is more than likely due to the speed of your internet connection then change your internet package(streamix).
  • If your laptop has not always been slow but has either suddenly slowed down or gradually over time gotten slower and slower, then you probably have virus/adware/spyware type problems.
  • You may have a corrupt windows registry. Even if you know what the windows registry is, don't try manually cleaning it yourself,you can use a good windows registry repair software such as ccleaner.
  • A lot of hidden culprits are simple files that are placed on your computer unbeknownst to you by adware or spyware programs. Adware delivers all the banner ads that you see while you are surfing the net. Adware usually includes code that allows the adware publisher to snoop on your browsing activity and then sell this personal information to third party advertisers. This tracking code that is added to your laptop is what is known as spyware.
  • Through adware and spyware unauthorized sites can add themselves to your desktop and to your internet favorites. These malicious components also take up your hard drive space and slow down your computer.
  • If you have picked up a virus then your computer may not only be slow but you may see other erratic type operations which may cause you to have to reboot the computer often. It really pays to always run some type of anti-virus software. Your laptop may very well come with a trial version of this type of software already installed for you.
  • In addition to protecting my computer with anti-virus software, I clean it quite frequently with adware/spyware remover software, because these little nuisance files are being added daily as you surf the net.

Why laptop/notebook or pc runs slow?

You find your laptop speed so damn slow or maybe it is freezing (stuck), rebooting without reason or perhaps you are getting the deadly blue screen.

Here are some possible reasons
* Windows Registry Problems
* Not enough memory for all the applications you want to run.(RAM)
* Experiencing hard drive problems
* Poor internet connection speed
* Virus, adware, spyware
* Processor speed
* Speed of graphics card

Common LCD screen problem

If there a line on screen
  • It is possible to replace with a new laptop LCD screen. The presence of lines could indicate a problem with the screen, the video cable or the video card.
If  LCD screen is dim
  • It may or may not need to replace with new LCD screen if the LCD screen is dim. If LCD screen is dim it may be as a result of either
  1. A faulty backlight or
  2. A faulty inverter.
  • The backlight is basically the light bulb in the laptop LCD screen which as one would suspect has an average useful life. The inverter, though, is a separate piece from the LCD screen. The inverter essentially
  1. Takes the DC power which the laptop runs off of and converts it into AC power and
  2. Steps-up the voltage to light up the cold cathode fluorescent backlight.
When a laptop LCD screen is dim the majority of the time it is a result of a faulty inverter (especially for HP laptop components). Unfortunately, the best way to determine which is the cause of the dim screen is through process of elimination by trying either a new LCD screen or a new inverter and seeing which solves the problem. It is highly recommend to purchase an inverter first as inverters are less expensive than LCD screens.

Identify Laptop or Notebook Display Problem

Laptop LCD screen has a faint image or is very dark

Look closely at the laptops LCD screen, and see if you can see a very faint image. If you can then it is possible that the Laptop's LCD lid close switch is stuck in the closed position. In this mode the backlight stays off, even with the LCD lid open. This is to conserve power when the laptop is ON with the LID closed. Check the LCD lid close switch. It is a small plastic pin located close to the back LCD hinges. Try tapping the lid switch a few times to see if you can turn on the screen backlight. If that does not help, then I would suggest to replace the FL inverter board.

Laptop LCD screen is solid white colour or garbled

Connect an external computer monitor to the laptop. If the external monitor display is fine, then you have a problem with the Laptop LCD screen or the LCD cable connection. If the external monitor image is the same as on the Laptop LCD, then it is likely to be a faulty integrated onboard video, this means replacing the motherboard of the Laptop.
